this is what I think I've always worried about "being an influencer". part of what made Hollywood stars so enticing was their mysteriousness. love this - thank you for sharing!
such a validating read! just lost 2 subscribers after publishing 2 articles that felt so authentic and inspiring and true to who i am BUT now i am doubling down in it bc this is me and i will not be but in a capitalistic box!!!!
I've always been anti "niche down! It doesn't sit right with my soul or my adhd but it can be hard to resist in an ever expanding multiverse of aesthetics, cores, and types of 'girl'. Not only is not putting yourself into a box good for your enjoyment of random, mix-matched interests. Turns out it's good for business too. Thanks for pointing that out! Great article.
Damn. The #7 footnote alone is gold. Thank you for sharing these inconvenient yet invaluable truths about who we are and how to embrace and radiate our true selves amidst a swamp of bland yet seemingly "successful" sludge.
I’m so happy I found your writing/art/weirdness, I went and read the two previous posts you recommended and am saving all three of these (and I’m guessing a lot more of your posts) to a folder called “I am a magical multifaceted human, not a capitalist soul-sucking content machine. ” 💜
